End Of An Era?

As mentioned at the beginning of this section I sold the Rebel and the Pantheon.

Do I have any regrets? No not really not over the Rebel anyway.

After the buying and riding the Pantheon I realised just how underpowered, uncomfortable and impractical it really was. But it didn't half look good!

Selling the Rebel was more difficult than I ever imagined, at the time I bought it it was difficult to find one at a fair price - not from a dealer in other words. In the end I was desperate to sell it, following the break in at my garage I'd shipped it off to a friends garage for 6 months or so along with the Pantheon. After he bought another car it was shipped off to his wife's parents 'barn' and the Pantheon squeezed into the space at the end of my garage and covered up. Next move for the Rebel was over to my brothers' workshop/store where I stripped off the tank and side panels so that his neighbour could take them to a colleague for respraying. The Rebel had to go, it was coming up to insurance renewal time. I dropped the price down for a quick sale....

The first person who wanted to see it didn't even know what a Rebel was, I explained and he seemed interested. He said he was after something lower than his current bike because he had short legs. Arrangements were made and we met where the bike was stored. He loved the look and was impressed with it 's condition and so he took it for a test ride. On his return he swore there was something wrong with the bike as the handling was so bad. Turns out he was used to sports bikes and their flick-ability.

Oh well, a lesson learned. Make sure they know what a Rebel is and how it handles. I dropped the price still further. The phone calls flooded in. A twenty odd year old called desperate to buy it and better still he knew what Rebels were and realised that they didn't handle like a  CBR600. He turned up with 2 other dodgy looking types who acted like big kids but in all fairness they turned out to be sound, one of his friends took it for a spin and told him to buy before I changed my mind. Money changed hands and she was gone. But not before I got a final few pictures!
