| HARD DISK DRIVES - Both my HDDs have come from previous machines, the 20 GB one from a P3 700 that I built a couple of years ago. I've just ordered a 120 GB IBM GXP180 Deskstar to replace to 20 GB one, at just under £60 +VAT it's a steal! It's a also got the performance to put most HDD in the shade. I'll partition it up, format it as NTFS and run Windows from it, hopefully it will provide a performance boost in to the bargain. UPDATE - The Deskstar died after just a couple days use. I returned and was re-credited so I decided to order a Maxtor 120GB SATA drive. This has proved easy to integrate into the system, is fast and also quieter than the existing 80GB HDD. |
